In Hampshire's first season with first-class status, Bailey made a single first-class appearance against Middlesex at the Cattle Market Ground, Islington.[1] Opening the batting, he scored 4 runs in Hampshire's first-innings, before being dismissed by Russell Walker, while in their second-innings he was dismissed for 10 by Thomas Hearne.[2] He played the occasional match for Hampshire until 1871.[3]
